The Blissful Bitch is my one person, artist-run dog walking service,
offering you a high level of care for your dog’s walk time.
Like you, I love dogs. I’ve always had a deep love for animals in general.
As a young girl, when I wasn’t spending time with my own dogs, cats or horses,
I spent much of my time reading voraciously about animals of all kinds,
as well as spending many hours drawing them
(these were my formative experiences as an artist).
I also started working with both dogs and horses at a young age,
and over the years have accumulated a lot of personal and
professional experience with both.
As a girl I had whippets. I’ve shown and raced both my own
and other people’s dogs (this was hobby racing – not for money –
much enjoyed by both the dogs and the owners).
I groomed afghan hounds for extra money in high school,
and have also taken dog obedience classes.
I also rode and trained horses professionally for many years.
I’m especially good at working with green (untrained)
and difficult and/or traumatized horses.
Although obviously horses and dogs are different,
the skills, sensitivity and awareness needed for working with horses
are definitely transferable to handling dogs.
Now I’m your neighbor in New York, after coming here some years ago,
like many artists, for reasons related to my creative practice.
Since moving here, as a way of supplementing my artistic work,
I started walking dogs for another dog-walker.
During that time I did over a thousand walks,
both individually and in groups.
I walked all kinds of dogs, in all kinds of weather.
And of course these dogs, and their owners,
became friends
and in some cases even like family to me.
Despite getting on so well with our clients, (I’m glad to say) I didn’t see eye to eye
with the person I worked for on certain fundamental issues,
including the idea that dog-walking requires distinct skills.
I am adamant that it does!
So now I’ve created my own dog walking service, The Blissful Bitch.
This allows me to work closer to home, walk fewer dogs, have more time
for my artwork, and offer a higher standard of service
to my clients.
I take pride in bringing my best to everything I do,
including helping you to keep your beloved canine happy and healthy.
Walking a limited number of dogs helps me to give your dog
the full care and attention they deserve.

and if we’re a fit, work out the logistics.
I offer reasonable rates for both group & individual walks.
